This house was used in the last 10 minutes of the 1996 Warner Brothers movie Twister. The site has not been maintained and is currently for sale.

Gypsum Mining
Capital of the World

In the late 1800s, Fort Dodge was known for mining gypsum and called itself the Gypsum Mining Capital of the World. One 5-ton block of gypsum mined here was used to construct the first fake Cardiff Giant (now housed in Cooperstown, New York). The old fort now features a fake of the fake, an 8-foot tall sleeping Cardiff Giant.
