Iowa Fun Vacation Facts

World's Largest Coffee Pot and World's Largest Coffee Cup

The Swedish Coffee Pot Water Tower, built in 1971, is known as the World's Largest Coffee Pot. A companion water tower resembling a coffee cup, built in 2000, is the World's Largest Coffee Cup. Both towers were built to honor actress Virginia Christine, who played Mrs. Olson in many Folgers Coffee TV commercials. Christine was born in Stanton. The  pot is 35 feet high and 20 feet wide. The spout is 10 feet high and 6 feet deep, while the handle is 15 feet high. The pot holds 40,000 gallons of water, while the cup holds 150,000 gallons — That's 2,400,000 cups of coffee! But the darn coffee pot holds only 640,000 cups.
